Introduced by William E. Lightfoot, the distinguished pioneering music professor at Appalachian State University, this is Scotty Wiseman's own story. Scotty Wiseman (1908-1981) and his partner, Lulu Belle (1913-1999) were one of the major country music acts of the 1930s and 1940s. She was from Boone and he from Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Their song, "Have I Told You Lately that I Love You?" was one of the first country songs to "cross over" onto the popular music charts.
