Annabel Thomas is from Columbus, but has family in Southeastern Ohio, where her two novels are set. Blood Feud came out in 1998 and Stone Mountain Man was released in 2002. Michael Henson writes about Appalachian Migrants in Cincinnati where he is from. Ransack was published in 1998 and Tommy Perdue in 2012. Donald Ray Pollock is from a community that some call Knockemstiff and others call Glenn Shade or Shady Glenn. It is in Ross County in Southeastern Ohio. His novel, Devil All the Time was listed as one of the top ten books of 2011 by Publishers Weekly. Robin Yocum’s first novel, A Brilliant Death (2016) is set in an Ohio River town and was a 2017 Edgar Award finalist. It was followed by Favorite Sons, set in an Ohio industrial town which was published in March of 2017. A month later, A Welcome Murder was published. Publishers Weekly gave it a starred review. It is set in a fictional Eastern Ohio steel town called Mingo Junction. Jess Montgomery is from an Eastern Kentucky family. He set his first novel, The Widows, in the Vinton County coalfields.
