Nola Pease (1893-2001) was a nurse in Leslie County BEFORE the Frontier Nursing Service set up there! After marrying Sam VanderMeer, she moved with him to Breathitt County where their Morris Fork Ministries became a much-appreciated and substantial service organization. She retired to Berea late in her life, I remember her, walking on the sidewalks when she was in her nineties. It is hard to find a more compelling missionary memoir than this one.
