Patsy Harman is a delightful lady who has made wonderful contributions throughout her life. In the sixties and seventies she lived in hippie communes first in Washington, Connecticut, and Minnesota before settling in West Virginia in 1974. That is where she decided she could make an important contribution as a midwife and then as a registered nurse. Her first book was The Blue Cotton Gown, A Midwife's Memoir, published in 2008. This is her first foray into fiction, but it has been followed by many more novels. The Midwife of Hope River i Patience Murphy, a character who is likely to win your heart.
