Written by a white amateur historian, William Dean Rexroad (1933-2014) who had ancestral roots in Pendleton County but lived in Kansas. For more than a dozen years, beginning ion 1999, he frequently visited Pendleton County, especially in the county's two black communities: Entry Mountain and Moatstown. This book really is a narrative history baked up by numerous charts and maps and illustrations including pictures of people and documents. It includes a cd: "Genealogy of the Black People of Pendleton County, West Virginia by William O. Lindsay." Rexroad published 13 books, none of which are currently available on line. His publishing company is dissolved.
