Jo Carson (1946-2011) was fiercely independent and creative. She was not just and actor, she wrote her own plays, AND she helped originate the whole concept of community theater and helped start its most illustrious manifestation in Cumberland, Kentucky. She published three children's books, this book of poetry, and a book of stories. Nobody has put together a better batch of persona poems than this one, and it is difficult to think of a better way to get a feel of a region than by reading outstanding persona poems.
