Dr. Robert F Thomas came to Pittman Center, in Sevier County, Tennessee, at the foot of the Great Smokies, in 1926 before the National Park was established to serve as both a pastor and a physician. This book about him was published first in 1950 when he had been there over 20 years. He worked there thirty more years until 1980. Dolly Parton, who grew up in Sevier County, wrote a song about him which is included in this book.
