This is a collection of fourteen essays, mostly interviews, reprinted from magazines from 1980 - when Smith's fourth novel, Black Mountain Breakdown, was published until 2000 when her second story collection, News of the Spirit, was published. The editor is a professor at Shepherd College in West Virginia.
