The author, James W. Cameron, graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, with an English major and received his law degree from Vanderbilt. He now practices law in Nashville. This is the third novel in his Sewanee Series of books set in the Cumberland Plateau in southern Tennessee. The Savage Gulf in a wilderness area comprises 20,000 acres that includes virgin forest that was not logged because of its rough topography.
