The copy offered is a mint signed first edition hardback in dust jacket. The book is an engaging and authoritative biography of Daniel Boone. Robert Morgan grew up on a small family farm in the mountains of Henderson County, North Carolina. His family did not own a car, but when the bookmobile began to come to the church within walking distance of his home, he became an avid reader. When his writing professor at North Carolina State, Guy Owen, announced he was moved to tears by a story that Morgan submitted, he became, in his words, "hooked on writing." The year after he received an MFA from UNC-G, his first of sixteen poetry books was published, and two years later he had landed a job as an Ivy League professor at Cornell. Three story collections followed, and then five novels, including Gap Creek which became an Oprah selection and a New York Times best-seller. Boone is the first of two non-fiction books that Morgan has written.
