The setting is a small fictional Kentucky town, called Wilder. The protagonist is Miranda Jasper, a middle school girl who has inherited "the sight" - the ability to see into the thoughts of others - from her granny. Until Adam arrives as the only Asian kid in town, Miranda's only companion has been Abigail, the ghost that haunts Miranda's home. This threesome with seemingly extraordinary powers unlocks a secret their community is not ready for. Julia Watts is a native of Southeastern Kentucky now living in Knoxville and on the faculty of South College and Murray State University’s low-residency MFA Program. Her thirteen novels for both the youth and trade markets have won multiple Lambda Awards.
