When they were each 65 years old, Edmund Bacon who was enslaved and worked on Jefferson's farm and Isaac Jefferson who worked as an overseer on that farm were both interviewed. This book contains transcripts of their recollections of the years from 1781 until the 1820s. These are the only known interviews conducted about life at Monticello.
