This was the most comprehensive reader of the poetry and prose of Don West (1906-1992) before the publication in 2004 of No Lonesome Road: Selected Prose and Poems of Don West edited by Jeff Biggers and me, George Brosi. This copy is signed not only by Don, but also by his wife, Connie Adams West, who illustrated the book. It is actually inscribed "To Marvin Jarrett with hope."  No other marks. Just minor corner bump and very faint age browning of the spine. Don West was a classmate of Jesse Stuart and James Still both at Lincoln Memorial University and at Vanderbilt. A native of north Georgia, he and Connie established the Appalachian South Follklife Center near Pipestem, West Virginia. He was a co-founder, with Myles Horton of the Highlander Center and a labor organizer as well as a preacher and a promoter of Appalachian music and culture.

Los Angeles: West End Press, a 1985 second edition with additional poems of a 1982 release. 220 pages. Trade paperback.
