Lisa Alther burst onto the American literary scene in 1976 with her huge best-seller, Kinflicks, set in her hometown of Kingsport, Tennessee. It was a huge best-seller, and literary critics love it. Alther is clearly one of a handful of the most accomplished contemporary Appalachian authors. In recent years she has expanded into non-fiction books while continuing to pursue fiction. This is the ONLY collection of her short stories. It includes "The Fox Hunt" which I not only published when I was a literary magazine editor, but which I also chose for inclusion in my 40th anniversary special issue of that magazine!
