Crystal Wilkinson has been named one of 50 Southerners of the Year, 2016, by Southern Living magazine. She is the proprietor of Wild Fig Books & Coffee in Lexington, Kentucky, the author of The Birds of Opulence that won the Ernest J. Gains Award for Literary Excellence given to rising African-American fiction writers, and Appalachian Writer in Residence at Berea College.
